Delivering Scalable Software Licensing
for an Industry Leader

Causeway Technologies provides construction software through a cloud platform that supports the full project lifecycle, from design and bidding to building and maintenance. Their solutions are organized into five segments: Design, Bid, Trade, Build, and Maintain. This structure helps companies automate tasks, streamline workflows, and manage projects efficiently. Causeway’s platform is widely used across the construction industry by both large and small businesses.

Key Business Challenges

Causeway struggled to manage software licensing across 13 applications due to rapid business growth and complex needs. Their in-house system couldn’t support multiple license models, automate processes, or provide secure, seamless access for global customers. The lack of a unified user activity view and inconsistent license controls led to inefficiencies, heavy reliance on manual processes, and limited customer usage insight. These issues drove up operational costs and threatened competitiveness in a market demanding flexible, scalable licensing solutions.

Solution

10Duke enabled flexible license models, automated management, and introduced Single Sign-On (SSO) and federated identity for improved security and user experience. Real-time analytics and integration with Causeway’s systems streamlined operations, reduced admin overhead, and offered a transparent view of customer access, empowering Causeway to deliver tailored licensing and scale efficiently.

SSO And Federated Identity Integration

Improves security and user experience by enabling Single Sign-On and federated identity for enterprise customers.

Real-Time Analytics And Integration

Provides actionable usage insights and integrates with existing systems to optimize operations and reduce overhead.

The Result

Causeway chose the 10Duke licensing solution for its ability to support complex licensing models for both online and desktop applications, its technical flexibility, and expertise in identity-based licensing for the construction software industry.

10Duke Enterprise was used for customer identity and usage data insights (aggregating usage data to inform product offerings and development). Implementation involved leveraging 10Duke’s APIs to simplify product activation and create tailored packages.

The result was a centralised, scalable, and flexible licensing solution that reduced internal costs and improved customer experience.

What Do the Engineers Say?

Causeway was facing big challenges around licensing and identification of users, where the solutions were made up of individual products. Some of those products had no license control at all, others used different methods. We had no single view of who was an individual person using our system.
